Universities meet in architecture

For the 12th International Architecture Exhibition, People meet in architecture (August 29th - November 21st 2010), directed by Kazuyo Sejima, the Biennale di Venezia intends to broaden the platform it offers Universities and learning Institutions, by providing a special opportunity for them to programme and organize a visit to the Exhibition, that can constitute an important educational experience.

This project by the Biennale foresees the possibility of setting up specific agreements with the Universities  for accrediting groups of at least 50 students, and to transform the experience of visiting the Exhibition into university credits. The Faculties that choose to participate will be required to organize the project for their visit to the Exhibition, to be developed and discussed in a seminar (or other educational form), in a space equipped with the required technical facilities, assigned by the Biennale.

If necessary, contacts are foreseen with the Chancellor and President of the Universities, the professors in charge of the degree courses, the person in charge of the Students’ Committee, and the Press Office, in order to present the Exhibition and the “Architectural Saturdays” programme (weekly meetings arranged by the Directors of the preceding Architecture Biennali) and to define contents and procedures for the planned visit.
The opportunity offered by the Biennale to the Universities and learning Institutions, to facilitate and enrich the visit to the Exhibition includes:
- a € 20.00 credit per student, which gives right to entry to the Exhibition venues on Friday afternoons, Saturdays and Sundays, free participation in the “Architectural Saturdays” programme, and a low-price menu in the various Exhibition cafeterias, together with reductions for the organisation of the journey and stay by agents approved by the Biennale;
- availability of some space free of charge in one of the Exhibition’s venues for group discussions and study on Sunday mornings, except where otherwise agreed.
A specific promotional and public relations program is planned, including a page on the Biennale’s website dedicated to the “Destination Biennale di Venezia” project, with links to the sites of the participating Universities and learning Institutions and the provision of information posters in the venues.
