In 2013, the Educational area of La Biennale di Venezia is pleased to present a series of special initiatives dedicated to schools and teachers, on the occasion of the following upcoming events:
- Living in the World - Transmission and Practices, a project by Virgilio Sieni, the new director of Biennale Dance
- 55th International Art Exhibition - The Encyclopedic Palace, curated by Massimiliano Gioni
- 57th International Festival of Contemporary Music, directed by Ivan Fedele.
The new project by the Dance section is a cycle of educational and creative courses on the language of contemporary dance. With the special workshop Agorà, Virgilio Sieni intends to address Venetian residents (women, men, children, aged people, families, mothers and children); the project offers to take a new look at the city of Venice, focusing on dialogues and meetings among people, and it will be accomplished by a public open air presentation in Venice, on June 28, 29 and 30.
Within the range of initiatives from the Dance section, youngsters between 10 and 15 will receive special attention, with the development of a series of experiences aiming at the production of a space specifically dedicated to them.
Open days with free presentations for teachers will be organized in relation to the 55th International Art Exhibition, curated by Massimiliano Gioni, and the 57th International Festival of Contemporary Music, directed by Ivan Fedele.
The dates of the open days are September 4, 5 and 6, with meeting and registration at 1:15 pm at the Teatro Piccolo Arsenale, followed by a presentation and a visit of the Arsenale and Giardini.
Open days will pivot on the themes of the 55th International Art Exhibition, The Encyclopedic Palace, curated by Massimiliano Gioni (Venice, June 1 > November 24, 2013), with a presentation of the special educational and workshop activities available to schools.
During the presentations, the programme of the 57th Festival of Contemporary Music (October 4>13), directed by Ivan Fedele, will be introduced.
On Wednesday, September 4 and Thursday, September 5, presentations will be held in Italian; on Friday, September 6, they will be available in Italian and English. Participation is free, registration required.
