La Biennale di Venezia, chaired by Paolo Baratta, announces the 5th International Kids’ Carnival of la Biennale, titled The Cookie Cottage, which will take place from Saturday 22 February to Tuesday March 4, 2014 in Venice, at the Giardini (Central Pavilion, hours 10 am - 6 pm daily).

The 5th International Kids’ Carnival has a program of workshops divided into:
· Mornings for schools organized by la Biennale's operators
· The Magnificent: workshops curated by 22 schools selected from all over Italy
· The Countries: workshops from Argentina, Germany, Romania, and the United States
· The Institutions: workshops of the Benedetto Marcello Conservatory, UNICEF and the World Food Programme
The workshops are all free, booking is required for some of them (marked with a P in the program), others can be participated in without a reservation (marked with an L in the program).
The Kids’ Carnival at the Giardini (Central Pavilion) is enriched this year by new initiatives designed by Virgilio Sieni, Director of la Biennale's Dance Sector: in particular, the Cookie Cottage live performance, lasting 15 minutes, repeated 3 times a day, starting at 4 pm and then every 30’, on Saturday 22 February (opening day), Sunday, February 23, Thursday, February 27, Saturday, March 1, Sunday, March 2, Tuesday, March 4.
On the occasion of the Kids’ Carnival, the photographic exhibition Reappearances - bodies, gestures and glances from the stages of la Biennale will be open at Ca’ Giustinian. Album '34 -'76, as usual composed of materials from the ASAC Historical Archives, this year selected by Virgilio Sieni. The exhibition will be inaugurated Friday, February 12 at 12 noon.
Again at Ca’ Giustinian there will be held the Grand Atelier of Tailoring, a creative tailoring workshop curated by Danièle Sulewic, for the second year in a row, to make masks, hats and costume elements with fabrics, paper, simple materials and recycled materials for the benefit of the public.
As usual, on the opening day (22nd February) the awards for the online competition for Italian schools will be given: Silver Lions for Creativity.
The 5th International Kids’ Carnival is a remarkable educational project of la Biennale, now in its fifth edition, and is aimed at kids, schools, and the public. It aims to encourage creativity and the participation of children with shows, workshops, exhibitions, contests, creating masks and costumes, stimulating the direct engagement of the participants. All activities are followed by the Educational Team of la Biennale.There will be provided heated rooms, nurseries, and Biennale Vaporetto and Bus, all free.
So far, the workshop activities have already 6,225 registrations of school students. In 2013 there were 18,891 admissions, 6,656 students enrolled in workshops and 149 schools).
