Biennale College - Dance 2017

La Biennale di Venezia, chaired by Paolo Baratta, announces the new edition of the Biennale College – Dance with the launch of the international call on the website, which opens today January 13th and will remain open through February 28th for the Project for dancers and through March 15th for the Project for choreographers.
The international call is addressed to dancers, and for the first time, to choreographers, introducing the art of choreography among the disciplines of the Biennale College – Dance, following the rigorous and experimental approach of the newly-appointed Director Marie Chouinard.

A maximum of 15 DANCERS between the ages of 18 and 23 will be selected for the project, which will engage them for 3 months from April 4th to June 26th – in a programme that integrates training and creation.
Furthermore, for one week only – from May 23rd to 27th – the body awareness training (or somatic approach) organized for the dancers of the Biennale College – Dance, will be open to 5 EXTERNAL PARTICIPANTS, who will be selected to follow the 6-hour daily sessions with Nora Benian, an expert in Yin Yoga.

3 CHOREOGRAPHERS will be selected to elaborate three original creations lasting approximately 12 minutes, to be performed during the 11th International Festival of Contemporary Dance.
The singular nature of the project, which features 3 new choreographers working with 7 PROFESSIONAL DANCERS, will therefore require a specific selection process for the 7 dancers, who must have an open mind, a positive attitude towards experimentation, a willingness to contribute to the creative process, and at least five years of proven professional experience.
