Ca’ Giustinian (San Marco), starting 21 February 2014, 9 am > 8 pm
The Historical Archives of the Biennale di Venezia has released a body of superb documents and original photographs, which constitute a geography of glances, bodies, poses and experiences in dance, theatre and music between 1934 and 1976.
Jia Ruskaja, Aurel Milloss, the Marquis de Cuevas with his Grand Ballet, Tatiana Gsovsky, Jacques Etcheverry, Alwin Nikolais, Ann Halprin, and Alvin Ailey are just some of the names on the works that will be on display.
The exhibition will also turn its gaze on the Theatre and Music Biennale of the years 1975 and ’76, with enlightening visions on the ceremonial of the body with Meredith Monk, Living Theater, Jerzy Grotowski, Eugenio Barba, Giuliano Scabia, Bob Wilson, and Peter Brook.
An aromatic and sensory counterpoint will be provided by a miniature Cookie Cottage with preliminary drawings and videos, as a preview of the actual event that will be presented during the International Kids’ Carnival.
