second meeting on Peripheries

PERIPHERIES is the title of the second event of the Meetings on Architecture at the 15th International Architecture Exhibition - La Biennale di Venezia,  which will take place Saturday, June 11th at 3:00 pm at Teatro alle Tese in Arsenale.
After the very successful turnout of the first meeting, which was attended by over 500 people, the second Meeting will feature Maria Giuseppina Grasso Cannizzo (special mention in 2016 as participant in the Exhibition REPORTING FROM THE FRONT), Alejandro Hernández Gálvez, Anne-Julchen Bernhardt e Jörg Leeser(BeL Sozietät für Architektur), Esteban Benavides (Al Borde) and Amica Dall (Assemble). The discussion will be moderated by Pippo Ciorra, member of the International Jury of the 15th International Architecture Exhibition and senior curator for architecture at the MAXXI in Rome.
The Meetings on Architecture consist of a thought-provoking programme of events happening throughout the whole period of Biennale Architettura 2016, involving the architects and participants in REPORTING FROM THE FRONT as discussants of the themes and case studies presented at the Exhibition.
“Meetings on Architecture - says Aravena - is a series of talks in which participants share with the public, in their own words, the project they are presenting at the Biennale. It will be a very relaxed talk in which each of the invited architects will get a chance to explain the story behind the project, the challenge they are trying to address, the tipping point in its development. Somehow, we are looking for the insider’s look of what it takes to get things built. Why that project? Why does it matter? What was the invention that made the difference? Each of the invited guests may talk for 10 or 15 minutes, followed by a round of Q&A from the moderator or the public.”
The next Meeting, titled STRUCTURES/MATERIALS, will take place on August 27th at Teatro alle Tese in Arsenale at 3 pm. It will feature Alejandro Aravena, Werner Sobek, Solano Benítez (Gabinete de Arquitectura, Golden Lion as best participant in the 15th Exhibition REPORTING FROM THE FRONT), Ochsendorf, DeJong & Block and Simón Vélez as invited speakers.
The Meetings on Architecture are organised with the support of Rolex.
