Kingdom Come
Synopsis
A middle class family spends the day together purchasing items in anticipation of the arrival of a new baby. We follow them into a consumerist dreamscape that soon dissolves into something nightmarish. Things take a violent turn when the patriarch of the family is confronted by a group of masked vigilantes.
Director’s Statement
Modern Britain: a landscape of motorways, retail parks, airports, homogeneous new-build homes, and Netflix. Within this conformity lurk blood thirst and a need for mass catharsis. It’s a place where morality is defined extrajudicially, and national identity is something to be won or lost. It’s a place where the suburbs dream of violence.
