The Enrico Rava New 4et won the Top Jazz 2015 referendum by “Musica Jazz” as the ensemble of the year. Around him and his trumpet, Enrico Rava has gathered three young musicians: Francesco Diodati on the guitar, Gabriele Evangelista on the double bass and Enrico Morello on drums. Essential to this encounter were the seminars at Siena Jazz, where Rava met Diodati and Morello, whereas he has worked with Evangelista since 2010, when the bassist joined the Quintetto Tribe. Within the framework of their intense international activity, which also led to the release of the CD titled Wild Dance with Gianluca Petrella for ECM in 2015, the quartet presents an interplay supported by the fresh ideas and technical prowess of the young musicians involved, and of course by Rava’s experience, playing music that starts from jazz to explore the universe of contemporary sound from a perspective stretching across genres and generations.
