Demdike Stare’s live performances can take any shape or form within their field of electronic music. Reazione, the piece they will perform at the Biennale Musica, is a tribute to the long history of experimental music and musicians in Italy across the 20th century. They take in influences and ideas from some of the more renowned exponents, from Gruppo d’improvvisazione Nuova Consonanza, (Morricone, Macchi, Kayn, et al.), to some of the more obscure composers and performers such as the unique double bass master Fernando Grillo, or Giuliano Sorgini, Paolo Renosto, and A.R. Luciani. Using original material and bringing their own technical methods and integrations, Demdike Stare wish to pay tribute to this spectacular area of music. Their performance is a reaction to this rich and exciting experience which has inspired them for many years, but lies outside of the more popular range produced by many composers and musicians.
