Biennale College Architettura: Selection announced for 16 projects

The projects are from Bahrain, Brazil, Canada, Chile, China, England, Ethiopia, Finland, France, Germany, India, Italy, Malaysia, Mexico, Portugal, Spain, and Syrian Arab Republic.

Biennale College Architettura / 2nd edition 2024-25

Biennale College Architettura

16 projects have been selected for the 2nd edition of Biennale College Architettura 2024/25 on the occasion of the 19th International Architecture Exhibition of La Biennale di Venezia, Intelligens Natural. Artificial. Collective, curated by Carlo Ratti (from May 10th to November 23rd 2024). They will participate in the workshop which will be held from September 10th to September 18th, 2024.

The goal is to supplement the International Architecture Exhibition with an advanced training workshop for the development and production of projects that utilize natural, artificial, and collective intelligence to combat the climate crisis.

Over 200 students, graduate students and emerging practitioners under the age of 30 (acting in the field of architecture, urban design, engineering, interior design, landscape architecture, and adjacent professions dealing with the built environment) from 49 countries around the world have joined the call for participation.

The 16 projects selected for this first phase of Biennale College Architettura are presented by:

The workshop, alternating individual and group sessions, will be coordinated by the Artistic Director of the Architecture Department, Carlo Ratti, together with tutors working directly with the participants on the development of the projects.

After the workshop, up to 8 of the 16 projects will be selected to receive a grant of 20,000 euros for the realization of the final work. The works will be presented out of competition in the context of the Biennale Architettura 2025.

Biennale College

Biennale College is a project by La Biennale di Venezia whose goal is, among others, to expand opportunities for young emerging practitioners by sharing their work with a wide audience. Since 2012 La Biennale di Venezia has been supporting productions by emerging talents in the Departments of Art, Cinema, Dance, Music, Theatre and the Historical Archive of Contemporary Arts.
