Louis Spohr Musikpreis 2022
Lucia Ronchetti, the director of the Biennale Musica, is awarded the Louis Spohr Musikpreis 2022 as “one of the most interesting and committed artistic personalities among contemporary composers” and for her vast body of work, “characterised at the same time by a high level of intellectual reflection, great originality and a concise power of imagination and expression” (from the motivation). The award ceremony will take place Sunday October 16th at the Staatstheater in Braunschweig.
Instituted for the first time by the German city of Braunschweig in 1953, this prestigious acknowledgment has been awarded in the past to composers such as Hans Werner Henze (1976), Olivier Messiaen (1991), Sofia Gubaidulina (1994), Salvatore Sciarrino (2007) and Adriana Hölszky (2019).
La Biennale in its entirety wishes to congratulate Lucia Ronchetti, the director of the Biennale Musica for which she is preparing the next festival. She is currently in residence at the Wissenschaftskolleg in Berlin for the 2022/2023 season, the fourth Italian composer to be invited in the history of the institution, after Luigi Nono, Luca Lombardi, and Marco Stroppa.
