Description

Oman, a crossroads of civilisations for centuries, unfolds its rich history through the Omani Pavilion’s journey in this year’s Biennale. Titled Malath – Haven, the exhibition explores Oman’s multicultural legacy, aligning with the theme of Foreigners Everywhere. Artists, representing diverse backgrounds, converge to encapsulate the essence of Oman’s historical melting pot.
Malath – Haven draws inspiration from Oman’s very core—a sanctuary for sailors, merchants, and immigrants. Mirroring the country’s tradition of providing shelter and sustenance to those from distant lands, the exhibition beckons visitors on a sensory and artistic voyage.
The exhibition’s central theme, “Malath”, manifests through various artistic mediums, inviting viewers on a culinary journey. Here, food serves as a symbol of unity, emphasising how family recipes encapsulate the essence of one’s roots. As Oman historically welcomed travellers, Malath recreates this hospitality, encouraging visitors to partake in a unique exploration of the country’s cultural diversity.
