Synopsis

Mobile Suit Gundam celebrates its 45th anniversary in 2024. Both Japanese and international audiences have discovered a science fiction work centred around a fictional robot, the Gundam, which has spanned generations and touched the hearts of millions. Numerous series are based on the setting and themes of the original Mobile Suit Gundam. Together, they form a chronological tapestry known as the Universal Century. Each instalment is historically linked to the previous ones and tells a story that deepens with each episode. These qualities have earned the Universal Century universe enduring popularity and the admiration of generations of fans. This is an all-new epic adventure into the heart of one of Japan’s most iconic anime universes: it’s Universal Century 0096. Three years after the last conflict between Neo Zeon and the Earth Federation, the latter hires an independent mercenary organisation to track down a former Commander who joined Neo Zeon remnants, the Sleeves.

Main Creator’s Statement

Gundam is deeply rooted in Japanese culture, and we are proud of this VR movie, Mobile Suite Gundam: Silver Phantom, which allows anyone to experience the Universal Century timeline. With Atlas V and Albyon, we successfully integrated Gundam’s essence with VR-specific techniques. Bandai Namco already has a life-size Gundam statue, but this VR film lets the audience experience the world, characters, and story of Gundam at full scale. That is the innovation of VR films. I will refrain from detailing the contents, but I hope everyone will see and feel it in VR and share the excitement.
