The project stages the Commentary on John by Meister Eckhart (1260-1328) featuring the actors Federica Fracassi, Leda Kreider, and Dario Aita together with the Coro della Cappella Marciana conducted by Marco Gemmani. The dramaturgy and direction are by Antonello Pocetti and the stage concept by Antonino Viola; the video images are designed by Andrew Quinn and the sound projection by Thierry Coduys.
Staged in the Portego delle Colonne of the Scuola Grande di San Marco, the atrium of the monumental 16th-century complex that today hosts the Ospedale Civile SS. Giovanni e Paolo.
The performance will be introduced by the philosopher Peter Sloterdjik, one of the major authors in the history of the ideas of the late 20th-century.
On Friday 7 March, Peter Sloterdjik will hold a Lectio Magistralis titled The Midwife of the Intellect: Meister Eckhart and the Divine Man (5:30 pm, c/o Casa dei Tre Oci, Giudecca, Venice). The lecture will be introduced by President Pietrangelo Buttafuoco.
