Synopsis

Frank, a small-time drug dealer, faces the worst week of his life when a heroin deal turns sour, leaving him indebted to Balkan drug baron, Milo. As the week progresses, Frank struggles to repay the money amidst mounting pressure from the merciless drug lord. His rising desperation spirals out of control when nothing goes as planned, forcing Frank to confront the dire consequences of his own self-inflicted plight.

Director's Statement

Having written and directed my first feature at age 24, you could say I created the film with the pure arrogance of youth.

Critic’s Note

In 1996 Pusher exemplified everything you imagined a hyper-confident young post-Tarantino film-maker might achieve with limited resources and a handheld camera: a narratively bustling, quasi-vérité vignette of urban low-life, soundtracked to a relentless throb of techno and Scandinavian thrash metal.

Jonathan Romney (Sight and Sound, March 2006)
