Compagnie Marie Chouinard - IN MUSEUM V2
Description
The passer-by is invited into a dedicated space to reveal a hope, an intimate wish, almost in secret, to the performer. This moment of sharing gives rise to a personalized response, a free and sensationally spontaneous dance that conjures up the forces to make the wish come true. IN MUSEUM evolves at the pace of the exchanges between the spectators and the artist. Between one interaction and another, the performer re-centres before giving new form to the invisible world.
The performance in some way evokes the Pythia, dressed in white, the oracle of Delphi. This ancient Greek figure delivered her prophecies in a state of trance, in a language that only the temple priests could interpret. While the history of the Pythia and the act of divination may remain a mystery to us all, the inscription engraved at the entrance to the temple of Apollo has lost none of its truth: “Know thyself and you will know the universe and the gods”.
