After studying at the London School of Contemporary Dance and completing her Master in Fine Arts at the School of The Art Institute of Chicago, Robyn Orlin (Johannesburg, 1955) returned to work in South Africa, earning herself the nickname “permanent irritation”. The complexity and contradictions of her country are the focus of her work, which combines various media, texts, video, the plastic arts, dance. Known for her manifesto-titles, for over 25 years she has proudly and angrily fought injustice.
