Synopsis
Beirut, Lebanon. On the waterfront’s construction site, security agent Raed must prevent passing-by walkers from accessing the seaside. Yet as the horizon becomes each day more stifled by the construction, Raed makes peculiar encounters—mere dreams, or symbols of his desires?
Director's Statement
This film talks about my home country of Lebanon. I often go for a walk on the seaside. And when I see security guards chase the passing-by locals away, I cannot help wondering: are they aware of what their job entails? Deep inside, don’t they dream of letting people go through, of one day opening the gates? Et si le soleil plongeait dans l’océan des nues is a poetic film about unfulfilled dreams.
