Francesca Verunelli - Songs&Voices
Description
Francesca Verunelli will present the world premiere of her vast sound fresco Songs&Voices, a work in which she explores in compositional terms the absence of song and the vibrant, colourful silence of the echo of an imaginary singer.
In Five Songs (Kafka’s Sirens) (2016), the driving force of the instrumental sound research is the presence of song in the absence of voice, a kind of aporia, which, like Kafka’s paradox, aims to push back the limits of the instrumental “visible”.
The question naturally gives rise to a second question, which is to some extent its opposite: what is the voice in the absence of song? The voice as pure presence, without its Orphic function? It was the exploration of this other half of the question that led to the integration of a vocal ensemble into this musical journey, which takes place between two extremes, the absence and the presence, song without the voice and the voice without song.
